Tool Website: http://www.fishdata.org/library.htm

Description

A wide array of population models have been created to simulate fish population dynamics from a theoretical, rather than empirical perspective. The Fisheries Information and Technology Section of the American Fisheries Society maintains a library of fisheries software tools. http://www.fishdata.org/library.htm. These models could be drafted into service to evaluate critical life stages and predict the impacts of management actions.

Geographic Location

Usually specific to species of fish

Inputs

Rates of growth and reproduction, age structure, and habitat requirements

Outputs

Growth, mortality, recruitment and habitat suitability

Linkage to Other Models

Level of Effort

Classical fisheries approach requires classical fisheries data such as size and age information for a population

Basin Scale Opportunity Assesment
