Instream Flow Incremental Methodology (IFIM)

Framework to assess different flow/project operation scenarios and resulting effects to physical, biological, and chemical attributes of water. IFIM is meant to be implemented in five sequential phases: problem identification, study planning, study implementation, alternatives analysis and problem resolution.

The level of effort and expertise required depends on the complexity of the project case and setting. Many of the models employed require training and experience to develop and interpret the results.
